UKirk Tallahassee is a ministry of the Presbyterian Church (USA) that partners with students as they continue to learn and experience what it means to be disciples of Jesus Christ. We seek to be a welcoming, inclusive, and worshipful community rooted in the Reformed tradition. Our core emphases are worship, discovery, and service by and for students. UKirk offers opportunities for spiritual formation in Christian community, with a particular focus on undergraduate students at Florida State University, Florida A&M University, Tallahassee State College, and other post-secondary schools in the Tallahassee area.

Campus Minister | Matt Frease 

Hi, I'm Matt. I am the Campus Minister here at UKirk Tallahassee. I am excited to be working at UKirk and with college students in the Tallahassee area. As an Ordained PC (USA) Teaching Elder (Minister of Word and Sacrament), my call has been to care ministries associated with the church and in higher education. This call to UKirk allows me to draw together the various skills and elements of ministry that excite me most to support college students' spiritual and emotional lives.

I received a BA from Maryville College (TN) in Environmental Studies, a minor in Outdoor Recreation, an MDiv from Columbia Theological Seminary, a ThM from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and a ThD in Pastoral Counseling from Columbia Theological Seminary. I have worked as a completive soccer coach, a youth pastor, a Pastoral Psychotherapist in private practice, and as a Hospital Chaplain in pediatric and adult hospitals.

My spouse Ame and I have been married for 11 years. We met in college at Maryville College. Ame works as a pharmacist.  We have two boys (Jacob and Nicholas) who bring us joy and keep us on the move. I am a supporter of Atlanta United and Arsenal Football Club. I enjoy reading, brewing beer, and spending time with my family.

Administrative Assistant | Mary Steen

Hello, I'm Mary. I am originally from St. Augustine, Fl. My family and I moved to Tallahassee in 2015. My background is in children and youth ministry. Prior to working at UKirk, I worked at Faith Presbyterian Church, Tallahassee as the Director of Christian Education for Children. I am married to Sheldon Steen, the pastor of Christ Presbyterian, Tallahassee. We have 5 wild and wonderful kids! In our spare time, we enjoy camping with friends.
I love the ministry of UKirk and Calvin's and am excited to get to be a part of it all.
